#LoveAThon Mini Challenge 3: Book Spine Poetry

For this challenge we were asked to create some book spine poems, which are poems created by mixing and matching book titles from our shelves.

This was my favourite challenge last year so I was looking forward to having another go. It was harder this time as I didn't want to use many of the same titles and my stash of physical books hasn't grown much over the past year.

But I did manage one short poem:

#LoveAThon Mini Challenge 1: Mix and Match

It's time for the first mini-challenge of the 2016 Love-a-Thon hosted by Alexa Loves Books, The Novel Hermit, Stay Bookish and The Daily Prophecy.

For this challenge, we were asked to mash-up a non-bookish hobby, passion, talent or fandom with our bookish life. We could do this through photos, art, videos and so on.

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Wrap-Up Post

The 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is coming to a close tonight. I really enjoyed taking part in this amazing blogfest. Here is a run-down of the activities I participated in and what I took away from the event.

Here are the links to my posts:

Challenge 6: Love-a-Thon Awards

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 6: The Love-a-Thon Awards!

The final mini challenge of the 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is to nominate your favourite bloggers for awards, in the style of the Grammy's or Oscars. I've always loved these type of posts as I enjoy highlighting blogs that I think deserve attention as well as discovering some new blogs to visit.

This was a really hard challenge as there are so many fantastic blogs that I visit daily that deserve an award, but I had to narrow it down to mentioning 3-5 blogs per category.

Anyway, without further ado, I would like to announce my nominations for The Love-a-Thon Awards!
*Drum-roll please*

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 5: Letter to Myself

The fifth mini challenge of the 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is to write a letter to yourself. You can either write to your younger blogging/writing self or to your future blogging/writing self.

I've decided to go for the second option.

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 4: Mash-Up

The fourth mini challenge of the 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is a Mash-Up. For this challenge participants are asked to mash-up their bookish life with a non-bookish hobby, passion or talent that they have in real life.

I'm passionate about animals, so I've decided to list my favourite animal characters from books.

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 3: Mad Libs

The third mini challenge for the 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is a Mad Libs style 'fill in the blacks' scenario. I'm late posting so am not eligible to enter the competition, but I've decided to join in with the mini challenges anyway.

Here's my attempt:

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 2: Book Valentines

The second mini challenge for the 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is to write a love letter to your book boyfriend(s)/girlfriend(s). I'm late posting so am not eligible to enter the competition, but I've decided to join in with the mini challenges anyway.

This was a very hard challenge for me as a) I am generally not a particularly soppy person, even towards my real-life boyfriend! and b) Romance is normally the last thing I look for in a book (I usually go for fantasy, sci-fi and dystopian novels with plenty of action). So it was hard for me to muster up enough affection for a fictional character, but there were a few that stood out for me: Peeta and Gale from The Hunger Games, V from Innocent Darkness, and Sam Roth from The Wolves of Mercy Falls series.  In the end, I decided to write my letter to Sam.

Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Mini Challenge 1: Book Spine Poetry

The first mini challenge for the 2014 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon is to make up a poem using only the spines of books. I'm late posting due to time differences so I'm not eligible to enter the competition, but I wanted to have a go anyway.

I've done book spine poetry once before, back in November 2010. I find  it's quite hard to work with the books I have as many of them are one-word titles, mostly nouns.

Here's what I came up with:
