100 YA Books Chain (Last updated 28/07/14)

I love reading, as you probably know, but up until recently I only tended to read the classics, modern and post-modern books that I had to study at school and university, apart from things like Harry Potter which I read for fun several times over. It's only since graduating from uni that I have had the time to explore books for entertainment rather than analysis. I've discovered fabulously witty adult writers like Robert Rankin and Gregory Maguire and serious writers like Jodi Piccoult and Audrey Niffengger. Only this past year or so have I delved into YA, primarily because that's the target audience of my current WiP. So I gave Twilight and The Host a go, and then found a lot of other recommendations through YA writer's blogs.

A lot of the books on the list seem too young and girly for me, and I would argue that some of them are more Middle Grade than YA, but there you go.
