Twelve Days of Christmas: Day 8

To celebrate Christmas this year I have decided to do a post on each of the twelve days of Christmas (25th Dec-5th Jan) to celebrate all of the gifts (both physical and metaphorical) that I have recieved this year and take stock of what I have achieved during 2011.

On the eighth day of Christmas 2011 gave to me...a much improved house.

Thanks mostly to my partner, who has been working so hard on our house this year, it's now feeling much more like a home. We splashed out on solar pannels for our roof which we hope will eventually earn us some money as well as doing our bit for the environment. We also got a smart widescreen TV and painted the chimney breast in a bright burnt red pepper/burnt orange colour, which made such a difference to the look of our front room. We also managed to find a bargain of a sofa for just £100, even though it was brand new, very large and feather-padded, so it's now much more comfy in the lounge. As well as that my partner has been improving the front garden by sculpting the driveway, adding more plants to the pond and working on the allotment. There are still a lot of improvements we would like to make on the house, but it's feeling more homely every day.
