Twelve Days of Christmas Day 3: A Great Dance Show

To celebrate Christmas this year I have decided to do a post on each of the twelve days of Christmas (25th Dec-5th Jan) to celebrate all of the gifts (both physical and metaphorical) that I have recieved this year and take stock of what I have achieved during 2011.

On the third day of Christmas 2011 gave to me...a great dance show.

In October we performed our annual dance show at our local theatre and it was great fun as usual. The first half of the show travelled through the different decades and styles of music- starting with 1940s swing, through 1950s rock and roll and all the way to modern day hip hop. We did a very fast tap dance to 'Rock Around the Clock', some jiving to 'In the Mood' and 'Jump Jive', and some modern dance to Lady Gaga's Pokerface and to a remix of 'Time of My Life' from Dirty Dancing. In the second half of the show we featured dances from two different musicals: Thoroughly Modern Millie (in which I played Millie) and Legally Blonde. Both were so fun to perform. I wasn't sure about the latter at first but it really is a fantastic musical and I urge you to go and see it if you get the chance- it's hilarious!

I always really enjoy rehearsing for the show- I get to have fun with friends, challenge myself, improve my singing, dancing and acting skills and keep fit. Every year my confidence grows even more and now I look at the DVD and smile instead of cringe.
