Even if I don't make it to 50,000 words by 30th November, I am certain of three things:
1) This is my first novel and so it's the longest piece of fiction I've ever written and I never would have written that much if I didn't sign up to NaNo.
2) I have got further than I ever thought I would
3) I will finish the novel even if I don't make it in time because, much to my amazement, I actually think I've got the basis for a good novel here.
So basically I've achieved much more than I thought I would, or could do, and for that I'm really grateful to the people who set up NaNoWriMo, and at the end of the month I will be buying lots of celebratory goodies from their store. NaNoWriMo really is a fantastic opportunity.
Not only do they give you a challenge to work towards and a motivation to complete it, but there is a wealth of resources on their website, and it's a fantastic place to connect to other writer's across the globe. Plus, you get all that for free! And we all know that today you can hardly get anything for free anymore (not even urine sample bottles, which are 79p where I work!). So I'll definately be taking up the NaNo challenge again next year, and I hope you do too!
