November is nearly upon us, and you know what that means? NanoWrimo! If you're not familiar with NanoWrimo, it stands for National Novel Writing Month, and you can find out more about it here. Now, I did create a profile last year, and I had a vague idea of a story which I started and got a few thousand words into, but I was supposed to be studying at the time so it petered into nothing. This year I've just finished my final philosophy exam (hooray! Just waiting for my degree result now!) so in theory I have more time than last year. I also came up with an idea for a psychological thriller called The Hole Within the other day, which I'm hoping will get me to the 50,000 word mark.
Here is a very basic synopsis:
As part of a shocking new reality TV show, ten individuals from all walks of life are chosen to spend two weeks locked in an underground bunker half a mile below the earth's surface. Most of the contestants are looking for fame and fortune, but it soon becomes apparent that they have signed up for something quite different...
I'm hoping to get my characters and plot planned out over the next couple of weeks so that I can start madly writing from the 1st November. You can follow my progress here. My friend Brooke is also doing NanoWrimo again, and from what I have read about her story it's going to be brilliant and I can't wait to read it! You can find out more about her amazing work by checking out her blog Paper Mountain.
Wish us both luck!
