Waiting on Wednesday (4) Auracle by Gina Rosati

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I can't wait for:

Auracle by Gina Rosati- 7th Aug 2012

16 year old Anna Rogan has a secret she's only shared with her best friend, Rei; she can astrally project out of her body, allowing her spirit to explore the world and the far reaches of the universe.

When there's a fatal accident and her classmate Taylor takes over Anna's body, what was an exhilarating distraction from her repressive home life threatens to become a permanent state. Faced with a future trapped in another dimension, Anna turns to Rei for help. Now the two of them must find a way to get Anna back into her body and stop Taylor from accusing an innocent friend of murder. Together Anna and Rei form a plan but it doesn't take into account the deeper feelings that are beginning to grow between them.
This sounds like it blurrs paranormal fiction with sci-fi as astral projection and parallel dimensions have a basis in science. It sounds really different from the usual run of the mill paranormal romances, plus I love the title and mysterious cover.

Glitch by Heather Anistasiu- 7th Aug 2012

In the Community, there is no more pain or war. Implanted computer chips have wiped humanity clean of destructive emotions, and thoughts are replaced by a feed from the Link network.

When Zoe starts to malfunction (or “glitch”), she suddenly begins having her own thoughts, feelings, and identity. Any anomalies must be immediately reported and repaired, but Zoe has a secret so dark it will mean certain deactivation if she is caught: her glitches have given her uncontrollable telekinetic powers.

As Zoe struggles to control her abilities and stay hidden, she meets other glitchers including Max, who can disguise his appearance, and Adrien, who has visions of the future. Both boys introduce Zoe to feelings that are entirely new. Together, this growing band of glitchers must find a way to free themselves from the controlling hands of the Community before they’re caught and deactivated, or worse.

In this action-packed debut, Glitch begins an exciting new young adult trilogy.

This sounds right up my street as I adore dystopians where the character's are trying to bring down their system of rule. I also love any novel that features robots or bio-mechanically altered humans, as I have a bit of a fascination with the philosophical issue of technology v. humanity that comes up in sci-fi literature and movies like Do Andoids Dream of Electric Sheep/Blade Runner, Star Trek and  iRobot. I like to read anything involving supernatural powers and this seems to have a bit of precognition and other mental powers in. Basically it sounds like it has everything! I'm really excited to read this.
