Memory Lane Blogfest

Today Ricki Rocho at Rambles and Randomness is hosting the Memory Lane blogest and I decided to join in the fun. All I have to do is answer the questions, which are all related to memories of my past. So here goes.

1) When did you start your blog?
I started my blog some time back in 2009, but back then I called it 'A State of Confusion' and I barely posted on it. I only really started blogging seriously last year during NaNoWriMo.

2) What is first denomination (price) of postage stamp you remember?
I'm ashamed to say I have no idea how much stamps cost now, let alone sometime in the past. I do remember that 'back in my day' chocolate bars used to be 30p and not the extortionate 50p+ that they do now for a bar half the size of the old one....*grumble*.

How old were you  when you learned to ride a bike?
I think I was about six. I remember my step dad taking me out in the back yard and holding onto the back of the seat while I pedalled furiously and then letting go without me knowing to build my confidence up.

What was the first concert you attended without parental supervision?
Sadly, I've only ever been to gigs and concerts with my parents! But, in my defence, their taste in music is pretty good!

How old were you when you got your first kiss?
Oh sometime in primary school. Probably about nine? I don't remember it at all though so it was probably an awkward, slobbery experience that is best forgotten. I do remember my first kiss with my boyfriend though. We were both kind of hovering there in the porch not sure whether to go for a hug or a kiss and it was very shy and unsure.

What is your earliest memory?
Hmm...I can remember going to playgroup when I was probably about three and they gave us a choice between making jam sandwhiches or peanut butter sandwhiches. I had no idea what peanut butter was so I went for that one and I remember being really revolted by the taste. Luckily they let me swap it for jam which I was more familiar with. I've never touched peanut butter since.

  2. Nope, I know a lot of people who love it but I just can't stand it for some reason. I do, odly enough, like marmite though! Thanks, I picked my favourite colours to go on here. Almost my entire wardrobe is this shade of bluey green.

  3. Great answers! I'm not much of a peanut butter fan myself. Unless it's mixed in with chocolate that is. MMMMM.

    Thanks for playing along today!

  4. Was is old-style "natural" peanut butter you first tried? I had that stuff in England in 1990 and it sure was revolting. The more recently-available stuff is more smooth and less oily and the flavor is slightly more sweet.

I love the picture of the young, shy teens hovering on a porch, having a tentative first kiss. Aww.

  6. I'm not sure what kind it was Laurel, but maybe I should try it again to see if my tastes have changed.

Marmite is a British spread-it's really dark brown (almost black) and is made from yeast. We typically eat it on toast with butter but some people put it in gravy to give it more flavour and it can be used in other cooking. It has a kind of salty taste. Their slogan is 'you either love it or hate it' and that seems to be true-its so strong that a lot of people don't like it. I happen to love it, though I couldn't eat it on its own out of the jar.
